Namibia: Etosha National Park ist set to undergo a major facelift

Namibia's most popular tourist attraction, the Etosha National Park, is set to undergo a major facelift in the coming months. Funded by the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), the infrastructural upgrades will include:
  • addition of camping, picnic and game-viewing facilities at the Olifantsrus waterhole
  • upgrading of the Southern Anderson Gate
  • creation of the new Galton Gate in the west of the park (opening in mid-2014)
The infrastructural upgrades will cost approx. $N340 million. The Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) is currently also funding the development of three massive self-drive travel routes through Northern Namibia. One of the routes will be linked to the Etosha National Park through the new Galton Gate.
